Charalampos Vassiliou

Mr. Charalampos Vassiliou is current a Consultant for the European Commission at Directorate General for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE). He is also a European Health Data Space Expert,  Digital Strategy and Business Development Advisor,  Entrepreneur, EU Project Manager, ICT Expert, Blockchain Enthusiast, ICP, PM² ,TAIEX Expert  and Digital Health Advisor.

He is currently an external consultant for the European Commission at Directorate General for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE) and a Digital Transformation, Strategy and Innovation Advisor at the Strategic Planning & Coordination Unit, Directorate for Digital Transformation and Digital Skills at the National Infrastructures for Research and Technology Network (GRNET S.A.), leading a group of skilled professionals in providing strategic advice in the design and implementation of public policies and services in the areas of digital governance and transformation, open governance and innovation in the public sector. This follows the appointment of Digital Transformation Advisor at the Hellenic Ministry of Digital Governance (Minister's Office, Mr. Kyriakos Pierrakakis).

He is also a member of the Open Technologies Alliance (GFOSS) Working Group for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and an Independent Expert for EIT Digital, evaluating proposals submitted to the Deep Tech Talent Initiative Call for Training Proposal launched by EIT Deep Tech Talent Initiative. He has actively participated in the development of the Digital Transformation Book (DTB) as well as other projects such as the Greek Artificial Intelligence Strategy, Digital Capabilities projects, etc. He has been a member of working groups as a digital health expert for DG SANTE on the European Health Data Space and for ECDC on digital surveillance systems for infectious diseases, and quite recently appointed member of the newly established Working Group (WG) at Greek Ministry of Health, to support the implementation of the European Health Data Space in Greece. He has served as a scientific and technical consultant to various institutions and companies in the private and public sector, including INTRASOFT International, SingularLogic, Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EBEA), National Confederation of Hellenic Commerce (NCHC), Hellenic Intellectual Property Organization (OPI), and others, in information systems, web applications and new technologies in relation to various business and research areas.

Since early 2011 he is the managing director of INNOSYSTEMS LTD. – Innovation Systems, a consulting services and high-end ICT technologies and solutions firm which provides innovative technologies as well as consulting and research services to companies, organizations and public administration houses. He has been active in various research areas and has undertaken more than 50 European and national projects in various fields. Finally, he is a Technical Assistance and Information Exchange (TAIEX) Expert for the European Commission, providing advice to various public organizations and beneficiaries on specific issues (e.g., legislation, presentation of best practice examples, assistance, etc.), and recently appointed Member of the Sustainable Economy Advisory Group for the Region of Attica, managed by the Innovation Centre of Attica Region.
