Comics workshop with illustrator and cartoonist Tomek Giovanis
Have you always wanted to draw a character but don’t know where to begin and how to do it? Or maybe you’ve already created some characters, but each time you draw one of them it comes out a little bit different from before? Have you created a lot of beautiful characters and want a way to place them smartly on a panel?
Illustrator and comic-book designer Tomek Giovanis shows us the entire process of creating a comics’ character. With examples drawn from characters in the comic strips Astinomos Niania (Talc Free Press), I Anagnostes (Patakis publications) and the comics series Koulouri (Jemma Press), the cartoonist will analyze step by step the creative path that can turn an idea into a character, give them form and bring them to life. In the workshop, we will also find out how to create a variety of characters, each with its own distinct form and personality, and place them to best effect in the comics’ panels.
The event will be held online through Zoom and is designed for everyone interested in creating comics, aged 7 or older.
