Tribute to groundbreaking American writers through the magic of the 7th art
In this new festival of screenings of fiction films and documentaries, prominent Greek writers, directors, and actors introduce films that draw on the rich literary world of renowned American authors like such as Truman Capote, Tennessee Wiliams, Nobel Laureate Ernest Hemingway, and Alice Walker, the first African American woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. In this evening’s event, director and actor Yorgos Nanouris introduces Lisa Immordino Vreeland’s film Truman & Tennessee: An Intimate Conversation
The film follows the parallel lives of two friends, Tennessee Wiliams and Truman Capote, both gifted writers haunted by ghosts of the past, demons of addictions, and the dazzling, misleading glow of success. These two literary monsters engage in a fictional dialogue from beyond the grave about life and all its often tragic twists in this historically and emotionally valuable documentary.
