What is the TOEIC® Listening and Reading test?
The TOEIC® Listening and Reading is a multiple-choice test designed to measure accurately language proficiency levels among non-native speakers. The scores achieved by the candidates indicate how well they can communicate in English with others in a social or workplace situation.

The TOEIC® Listening and Reading test lasts 2 hours and consists of 200 multiple choice questions, divided in two parts:

Register online for your exams through ORFEAS, our online registration system. Find an examination center close to home from a choice of 100 locations throughout Greece and abroad, and complete your application online with your debit, pre-paid or credit card.
You will receive all the details for your upcoming exam via email in a single document that you can save, print and take with you on the day of your test. You will also be sent updates on the status of your application and useful support materials. Expect invitations to webinars for tips and strategies that will help you prepare effectively for the exam.

Scores on the TOEIC® Listening and Reading test are determined by the number of correct answers. The number of correct responses on each section is converted to a scaled score. Three TOEIC® Listening and Reading scaled scores are given for each examinee:
- οne for the Listening Section
- οne for the Reading Section
- οne Total Score that consists of the sum of the Listening Section and Reading Section sub-scores.
Each sub-score can range from 5 to 495 points. The Total Score ranges from 10 to 990. There is no negative scoring. The Total Score consists of the sum of the Listening Section and Reading Section sub-scores.
The statistical procedures used to convert scores to a common scale ensure that similar TOEIC® Listening and Reading scores indicate similar levels of English proficiency.
Rescoring
The scoring of the exams administered by the Hellenic American Union is consistent with the latest principles of evaluation that have been adopted by the examining bodies. Quality control at every stage of the scoring procedure certifies the credibility, as well as the validity of the results.
However, if you still wish to have your exam rescored, you may do so at a fee, within 30 calendar days after the official announcement of results. First, you will have to submit the appropriate Rescoring Request Form. You will receive by post the rescoring result upon completion of the rescoring procedure.
Please note the following:
- Rescoring Request Forms may be submitted within 30 calendar days after the official announcement of results. After this period, no rescore requests are accepted.
- Any scores resulting after rescoring are final and irrevocable.
- In the case that scores after rescoring are higher than the initial ones, rescore fees are refunded and a new candidate score report is issued.
Who recognizes the TOEIC®
Public Authorities
Supreme Council for Civil Personnel Selection (Α.Σ.Ε.Π.)
The TOEIC® Listening and Reading certificate is recognized by the Private Sector as well as by the Supreme Council for Civil Personnel Selection (ASEP) in Greece and is valid for life, regardless of date of issuance.
According to recent Greek legislation, all TOEIC® Listening & Reading certificates that have already been issued or are to be issued until June 30, 2024, are recognized as valid by ASEP. Certificates issued on or after July 1, 2024, will not be accepted by ASEP as proof of foreign language proficiency. The date of examination is defined as the date of issuance of the certificates.
The TOEIC® Listening and Reading is recognized and accredited by ASEP, as proof of knowledge of English at the following levels:
Basic (405-500), Lower (505-780), Advanced (785-920) and Excellent (925-990).

The new scoring levels apply retrospectively to all candidates who attained a certificate from 1.12.2019 onwards. The scoring levels for those candidates who have attained a certificate before 1.12.2021 remain as follows: Very good knowledge (C1): a score from 785 to 900, Good knowledge (B2): a score from 505 to 780, Average knowledge (B1): a score from 405 to 500.

How often is the TOEIC® Listening and Reading test administered?
The exam is administered every week in Athens and Thessaloniki and regularly at regional test centers.
Where is the TOEIC® Listening and Reading test administered?
All over Greece. Contact the Language Schools of your area to find out which is the closest test centre.
Are the test administration dates final?
Depending on requests by candidates, in addition to the announced dates, the test may be administered on other dates as well. Also, in the case that a minimum number of candidates has not registered for a specific administration date, the test for that date is transferred to another one and registered candidates are informed in advance.
How and when can I register for the TOEIC® Listening and Reading test?
Registration for the TOEIC® Listening and Reading test is done online. If you wish to participate in a specific administration date, you must register at least 15 calendar days before the specific date.
How often can I take the TOEIC® Listening and Reading test?
Candidates are allowed to take the exam once every 28 calendar days (including weekends, holidays, and test date). The Hellenic American Union maintains the right to change the testing date for any candidate who does not comply with the above regulation.
If I have a disability can I still take the TOEIC® Listening and Reading test?
The Hellenic American Union provides equal opportunities to everyone. If you need special accommodations, please contact us 30 days prior to the test date. Every effort will be made to facilitate the examining procedure for you. There is no additional cost for providing special accommodations.
Is there a different test for each level?
No. There is only one test for all candidates.
Do I get a certificate regardless of the score?
Yes, all candidates can receive a certificate.
Receipt/Shipping of original certificates
All TOEIC® Listening and Reading candidates receive a certificate regardless of their score.
Language School Owners and teachers of English
- The Hellenic American Union Center for Examinations and Certifications ships the Educational Testing Service TOEIC® Listening and Reading certificates as soon as the test developer makes them available.
- Shipping is done by courier service and is free of charge.
- Certificates are delivered to candidates care of the Language School Owner or teacher who has registered the candidates.
Individual candidates
- If you wish to have your certificate sent: Shipping is done by courier service and is free of charge.
- Download, complete, and sign the relevant application.
- Send the completed application with a photocopy of your ID card or passport or any other legal document of identification ("tautoprosopia" with a photograph stamped by Public Authority or driver’s license).

Lost/Damaged certificates
- Lost or damaged certificates are not reissued.
- The Hellenic American Union can issue a certification of loss or damage.
- The issue of a certification of loss or damage is charged with administrative costs.
- Procedure for issuing a certification of loss or damage:
- Download, complete, and sign the relevant application.
- Download and complete relevant Declaration Form of Law 1599/1986. Verify the authenticity of your signature on the form at a police station or Citizen Service Center (ΚΕΠ).
- For the receipt/shipping of the certificate of loss or damage, follow the procedures that apply to receipt/shipping of original certificates for individual candidates.
Other requests
The Hellenic American Union Center for Examinations and Certifications can accommodate other candidates’ requests such as the following:
- Authorization of copies of certificates (administrative costs apply)
- Certification of participation in examinations (free of charge)
- Translation of certificates (administrative costs apply)
- Certification of registration in examinations (free of charge)
For all the above-mentioned requests, candidates must complete and sign the relevant application. For the receipt/shipping of authorizations, translations, and certifications, candidates follow the procedures that apply to receipt/shipping of original certificates for individual candidates.

Can I see the status of my registration after I have applied?
Once you complete your registration you will be sent updates on the status of your application. For example, any changes to the date of the examination, if these occur, will be communicated to you via email, SMS or telephone by our support team.
